Automatic entrance door repaired on an emergency call by Access Experts 247

Home › Emergency Automatic Door Repair

Door stuck open? That is a security problem.

24/7 emergency repair for automatic sliding and swinging doors across Miami-Dade. A person answers, the nearest crew moves, and the opening gets secured or restored on the same visit wherever the parts allow.

Not an emergency?

For anything that can wait, leave your details and a dispatcher calls you back. If it cannot wait, call the number on the left.

Why this is urgent

A failed entrance is either a security problem or an egress problem. There is no third option.

A door stuck open leaves the building unsecured, the conditioned air outside and your insurance position questionable. A door jammed shut is worse: it is on an egress route, and an entrance nobody can get through in a hurry is a life safety issue rather than an inconvenience.

Neither one waits for business hours, which is why our dispatch runs continuously. Night calls and weekend calls route through the same system as daytime calls, with the same crews, not a reduced on-call arrangement.

What we can do on the first visit depends on the failure. A sensor fault, a limit switch, a board or a drive component is often resolved on site because those parts travel on the truck. Where a part has to be ordered, the priority shifts to making the opening safe and secure overnight, then completing the repair on a scheduled return.

What we treat as an emergency

Call, do not book, for any of these

The door will not close

The building is open. Retail, medical and hospitality entrances all become an immediate security and climate problem, and after hours it is worse.

The door will not open

On an egress route this is the one that matters most. If people cannot get out through an entrance in a hurry, it is not a scheduling conversation.

The door is moving unpredictably

Opening and closing on its own, closing hard, or reversing at random. A powered door misbehaving around pedestrians needs to be shut down and diagnosed, not watched.

Break-out has failed

The panels will not release in emergency mode. On an egress opening without standby power the ADA expects a 32 inch minimum clear break-out, so a break-out that has seized is a code failure as well as a safety one.

Impact damage

A vehicle, a cart or a delivery has struck the door. Even when it still runs, an impacted door frequently has a bent track, damaged guide rail or misaligned sensor holding it together temporarily.

Storm and water damage

After a named storm, entrances take debris strikes and water intrusion into operators and controls. We prioritise buildings that cannot secure themselves.

How the call runs

Answer, dispatch, diagnose, secure

  1. 01

    A person answers

No recording, no answering service. We take the address, the door type and what it is doing, and dispatch begins before the call ends.

  2. 02

    The nearest crew is routed

From the northwest corridor or Sunny Isles, whichever reaches you faster. The arrival target starts at your call.

  3. 03

    Diagnosed on site

The same structured sequence every time, beginning with whether the operator is receiving consistent power, so the actual cause is found rather than guessed at.

  4. 04

    Repaired or made safe

Fixed on the visit where the parts allow. Where they do not, the opening is secured and the return visit is booked before we leave.

Common causes

What is usually behind an emergency call

Presence or approach sensor failure

The most common single cause. The door either stops seeing people or sees things that are not there and refuses to close.

Control board or power fault

Frequent after a lightning event or a power interruption, which South Florida supplies plenty of.

Drive component failure

Belt, motor, carriers or rollers. Usually preceded by weeks of noise that nobody reported.

Track obstruction or damage

Debris, a dropped fixing, or impact. A sliding door running on a compromised track will damage itself quickly if it keeps cycling.

Limit or encoder drift

The door stops short, overruns, or hunts for a position it can no longer find.

Deferred maintenance catching up

A large share of emergency calls are items that would have been found on a scheduled visit months earlier at a fraction of the cost.

Questions

What people ask at 2 AM

Are you actually available at night and on weekends?

Yes. Dispatch runs continuously, seven days a week, including holidays, and night calls route through the same system as daytime calls rather than through a reduced on-call arrangement. Call us and a person answers.

Can you secure the opening tonight and repair it properly later?

That is often the right sequence, and we will say so rather than pretending a part exists on the truck when it does not. Making the opening safe and secure overnight is a legitimate outcome for an emergency visit. The repair then happens on a scheduled return once the part is in, usually at a lower rate than emergency labour.

Do you carry parts, or is this a diagnostic visit?

Operators, boards, micro limit chips, rollers, sensors and drive components travel on the truck, so a large share of emergency calls are resolved in a single visit. Where a proprietary or obsolete part is involved, we identify it on site and tell you the lead time immediately rather than after a second visit.

The door is on a fire rated opening. Does that change anything?

Yes. A rated assembly has to be repaired with parts obtained from the original manufacturer, and after repair it has to be tested to confirm it still operates and closes as listed. We will not improvise a repair on a rated opening, because a rated door that has been fixed with the wrong part is no longer a rated door.

What does an emergency call cost compared with a scheduled one?

After-hours labour costs more than daytime labour, which is true of every trade. What we can tell you before dispatching is the call-out basis, so there is no surprise at the invoice. If the situation can safely wait until morning, we will tell you that too.

Call now, we are dispatching

Nights, weekends and holidays route through the same dispatch system as daytime calls. Tell us the address and what the door is doing.
