A dead bay stops the whole building

24/7 emergency repair for dock levelers, restraints, seals and dock doors across Miami-Dade. A person answers, the nearest crew moves, and the priority is getting the bay safely back into service.

Not urgent?

For anything that can wait, leave your details and a dispatcher calls you back. If a bay is down now, call the number on the left.

Why a bay cannot wait

One dead bay does not cost you one bay. It costs you the schedule.

Docks run on sequence. Trucks arrive on appointment, the yard is staged around the bays that work, and labour is scheduled to match. Take one position out and the queue redistributes across the rest, the turnarounds stretch, and by the second shift you are paying detention on trailers that should have left.

The failures that do it are rarely exotic: a leveler that will not raise or will not return to stored position, a restraint that will not engage or will not release, a dock door jammed halfway, a lip that will not extend. Each one takes a bay out entirely, because none of them can safely be worked around.

The one to take most seriously is the restraint. If it has failed, the trailer is no longer positively secured, and the operation has to fall back to chocks and procedure until it is repaired. That is a decision to make deliberately, not one to discover halfway through a load.

What we treat as urgent

Call, do not book, for any of these

Leveler will not raise or lower

Hydraulic failure, a control fault or a mechanical bind. The bay is out until it is resolved.

Lip will not extend or retract

A leveler that cannot form a safe transition is not a partial problem. Nothing should cross it.

Restraint will not engage or release

Either direction is urgent. Failing to engage removes the positive securing; failing to release traps a trailer at the building.

Dock door jammed or off track

The opening is either stuck open, which is a security and climate problem, or stuck shut, which closes the bay.

Hydraulic leak

Loss of pressure, an unpredictable leveler and a slip hazard on the dock floor, all at once.

Impact damage

A trailer backed in hard, a strike on the bumpers, or a leveler hit while extended. Even if it still runs, alignment is likely compromised.

How the call runs

Answer, dispatch, isolate, restore

  1. 01

    A person answers

We take the site, the bay number and the failure. Dispatch begins during the call, not after it.

  2. 02

    Nearest crew routed

From the northwest corridor or Sunny Isles. The arrival target starts at your call.

  3. 03

    Isolate and diagnose

The bay is made safe first, then diagnosed properly. Hydraulics, controls, mechanics and structure, in that order.

  4. 04

    Restore or secure

Back in service on the visit where the parts allow. Where they do not, the bay is safely locked out and the return is booked before we leave.

Common causes

What is usually behind the call

Hydraulic cylinder or hose failure

The most common leveler fault, and one that gives plenty of warning in the form of slow operation and small leaks nobody escalated.

Control or power fault

Push button stations, relays and contactors live in a wet, dirty, high-vibration environment and do not last forever.

Restraint mechanism obstructed or worn

Debris, corrosion, or a hook that no longer positively engages a range of ICC bars.

Structural fatigue at the pit

Cracked welds and worn hinge points from years of load cycling, usually visible well before failure to anyone looking.

Deferred maintenance

A large share of emergency dock calls are items that a scheduled visit would have caught months earlier.

Damage never reported

A strike gets absorbed by the equipment and the shift moves on. The failure arrives weeks later with no obvious cause.

Questions

What people ask when a bay goes down

Do you actually run 24/7 for dock work?

Yes. Dock calls route through the same continuous dispatch as our door and gate work, seven days a week including holidays. Distribution sites do not run business hours, so neither does the dispatch.

Our restraint failed. Can we keep using the bay?

That is your call and your site procedure governs it, but understand what has changed. OSHA requires that trailer movement be prevented while a trailer is boarded by powered industrial trucks, with brakes set and wheel chocks placed. A positive mechanical restraint is accepted as an equivalent means, and OSHA guidance is explicit that the mechanical equipment must be maintained and used as the manufacturer recommends, and that damaged equipment is removed from service immediately. A failed restraint means falling back to chocks and procedure, deliberately, not by default.

Can you get the bay working tonight?

Often, yes. Hydraulic components, controls, chains and common leveler parts travel with the crew. Where a part is proprietary or obsolete we identify it on site, tell you the lead time immediately, and lock the bay out safely rather than leaving something half working.

The leveler was hit but still moves. Is that an emergency?

Treat it as one until it has been looked at. An impacted leveler frequently has bent structure, a compromised hinge or a damaged lip that still operates while the load path is no longer what it was. The failure mode after impact is sudden rather than gradual.

Do you work on equipment from any manufacturer?

We service the common dock equipment brands and carry general components. For proprietary parts we source through the manufacturer, and if a unit is genuinely beyond economic repair we will tell you that with the numbers rather than keep billing visits against it.

Bay down? Call now

Nights, weekends and holidays route through the same dispatch as daytime calls. Tell us the site, the bay and what failed.
